AI technology is continuing to transform the way people live and work, from searching for information to checking code for errors. Now, AI is about to change how you use your favorite Microsoft 365 products, too.

On March 16, 2023 at its Reinventing Productivity with A.I. event, Microsoft announced Microsoft 365 Copilot, their own take on high-functioning chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Microsoft states that the Copilot product “combines the power of large language models (LLMs) with your data in the Microsoft Graph and the Microsoft 365 apps to turn your words into the most powerful productivity tool on the planet.”

So, what does this mean for the future of Microsoft 365, and what new features can users look forward to with the rollout of the Copilot product?

What’s Included with Microsoft Copilot?

From a high level, Microsoft 365 Copilot is an AI chatbot assistant that works alongside your emails, documents, meetings, and more. Let’s take a closer look.

Word

Copilot can create an initial draft for you based on a prompt, saving you time in writing, sourcing, and editing time. And, with Microsoft Graph in the background, Copilot can incorporate collaborative content from documents across the organization

Outlook

In addition to answering emails, Copilot can pull discussions from email threads and content across all Microsoft 365 applications
