Although the look, feel and use of the new site was key, what The City of Mississauga truly needed was a vendor that not only could deliver a SharePoint development but could also understand their entire SharePoint infrastructure, which included 19 servers between their production, test, and development environments. This would ensure that the core infrastructure would not be affected, and the project would only enhance the current infrastructure, as well as offer a user-friendly way of delivering key information.
Because of Buchanan’s expertise in delivering Microsoft-based products, and its vast experience specific to the SharePoint environment, the Buchanan team of architects and project managers were able to review all requirements, build wireframe models, propose business functionality, develop all code and documentation, implement the development, and conduct the knowledge transfer to the internal technical staff of the municipality.
The City of Mississauga now has an updated, mobile- and user-friendly Intranet site that is proactive in delivering timely information to corporate and departmental news to staff. The internal staff not only love the new look and feel of the site, but they are happy with the core functionality and ease of use that simplifies their everyday jobs.
