Utopia supports SNMP v1, 2 and 3. The system can be configured to automatically discover and scan interfaces or manually discover and configure them. Utopia also uses DNS to scan network segments and identify any device on the network.

Utopia requires the administrator to provide the seed segment to begin scanning. The system can be configured to scan as many as five networks away from the seed network.

Once the devices have been identified, it is displayed along with each device's individual interfaces that are exposed using SNMP. The device's status (up / down) as well as the device's interface(s) status and utilization levels are available to be monitored.
