6/23/2009 - Buchanan Technologies Participates in Dallas Build-a-Ramp: Building Freedom for the Homebound
Every quarter, Buchanan Technologies coordinates a team effort to participate in a local community service project. On June 13th, Buchanan Technologies partnered with The Dallas Ramp Project in an effort to build the second-largest access ramp in Dallas Ramp Project History, helping a handicapped individual who was unable to leave home.

In 1985, the Kiwanis Club of Richardson began building access ramps for residents of Dallas and its suburbs. In the years since, with expanded corporate and volunteer support, The Dallas Ramp Project has built nearly 2000 ramps, at a current rate of more than240 per year. Volunteers say it is the most satisfying work they have ever done - liberating people imprisoned in their own homes, unable to get out because of the front steps that most people take for granted.

The Dallas Ramp Project works with the city of Dallas, social-services organizations, and hospitals to identify clients who need a ramp. They are 100% volunteer staffed, relying on individual and corporate donations to provide funding, building materials, and facilities for work.

Buchanan Technologies is proud to be a new partner for the Dallas Ramp Project and to represent one of our four core values: Community Matters. For more information on how to volunteer or donate to the Dallas Ramp Project, please visit www.dallasramps.org.
