Meet the Executive Team

Our Executive team consists of leaders that are dedicated and committed to one goal: keeping consistently happy customers. Each leader at Buchanan Technologies is a leading Subject Matter Expert in his/her field.

Jim Buchanan

President and CEO

Jim Buchanan founded Buchanan Technologies in 1988 addressing the growing need for Information Technology services in an emerging marketplace. Since starting the business in his apartment, he has grown the organization to over 400 consultants and has transformed the company into an international services provider. Jim participates and contributes to Vistage International, the largest CEO mentoring group focused on helping executives increase quality and value in their organizations. He has been nominated for several business awards, including the Dallas Business Journal's CEO of the Year and Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year.

Jim was born and raised in Ohio, moving to Dallas in 1983. Prior to founding Buchanan Technologies, he held positions in technical support and managed a local center for a national training organization.

Jim currently resides in Coppell, Texas. In his spare time, he enjoys sailing, riding his Harley and playing his guitar.

Stephen Sweett

President of Canada Operations

Stephen Sweett has been a member of Buchanan Technologies executive team for the past nine years. During that time he has been an instrumental part of Buchanan's growth in the North American marketplace. Stephen is responsible for guiding Buchanan's consulting and sales operations in Canada and the Northeastern United States. He is an accomplished Information Technology Consulting executive with a successful track record in directing the growth and development of consulting organizations. Stephen is a highly motivated leader with an open and aggressive style supported by a wealth of industry knowledge that has helped organizations enhance their operations through the effective use of technology.

Stephen started Buchanan's Application Development Center and continues to oversee its growth with expanding near and off shore capabilities in Toronto and Sofia. Stephen came to Buchanan Technologies in 2000 as part of the Software Spectrum acquisition. At Software Spectrum Stephen was the consulting practice manager and was responsible for the growth and development of their Canadian consulting business. Stephen holds both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from Saint Mary's University in Nova Scotia.

Stephen resides in Oakville, Ontario, with his wife, and three children. He is an avid supporter of amateur sport in Ontario and remains actively involved as a coach for local minor hockey and youth soccer associations.

Sally Dixon

Dallas Regional Vice President

Sally Dixon, Regional Vice President, joined Buchanan Technologies in 1996 and is committed to building viable and trusting customer relationships. She believes strongly in mentoring her leadership team and the cultivation of junior associates to encompass customer expectations. Sally currently manages Buchanan's largest regional office in Irving, Texas. Her efforts to expand Buchanan Technologies offices into Europe will provide Buchanan clients with a sound 24X7 helpdesk operation. Her rich and diversified background includes proven results in business development, business strategic planning and financial and operational management. Challenged with providing executive leadership, mentoring and guidance, Sally has proven her ability to deliver strong and sustained results to grow BA's revenues to $50 MM annually.

With leadership encompassing over 15 years of experience in IT business development and strategic planning, Sally has the capability to change and transition architecture with the insight to engineer and execute strategic vision into a tactical success. Prior to joining Buchanan Technologies, Sally began her career in software sales at Delphi a software company delivering solutions to the insurance industry. She progressed from being a top performer in driving company revenues to taking on leadership roles within the organization.

Sally currently resides in Southlake, Texas, with her husband, son and daughter. Sally participates in Vistage International; a leading executive mentoring group, focused on assisting executives to take their companies to the next level. She is also an active supporter for several non-profited organizations including Safe Haven Tarrant County.

Robert Venable

Chief Financial Officer

Robert Venable is Senior Vice President, Finance for Buchanan Technologies, an IT Consulting Firm delivering transformational services through the technical leadership, innovation and knowledge capital of our people. Robert's management style allows him to build relationships with our employees through support and encouragement to help them achieve their goals.

In his current position, he is responsible for managing the finance department while maintaining trusting client relationships that align with our core values. During his fourteen years with the company, he has assisted in key acquisitions that have increased Buchanan Technologies' revenue and service offerings to nearly $50 MM.

Prior to joining Buchanan Technologies in 1994, Robert held an executive financial position with AG Hill and Company. He graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1984, with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. Robert resides in Irving, Texas, with his wife and sons.

Paul Cyr

Vice President, Controller

Paul joined Buchanan in early 2007 and began making immediate positive impacts on the management reporting of financial results. Paul improved the delivery time and accuracy of financial statements to all operating units providing much better insight into operations. In order to do that, he automated a number of previously manual processes that delayed the monthly financial closes. The complete conversion from Traverse Accounting to Great Plains as our core financial platform occurred shortly thereafter. This was critical in linking our project accounting system (TABS) with our financial accounting platform.

After completing this "heavy-lifting", Paul then focused on adding value to our employees, customers and vendors. The automation and direct-depositing of our employee expense reimbursements was a very visible project he directed. Similar improvements to our billing system have reduced the amount of time our clients take to pay us allowing us to pay vendors faster. As we have become a more global corporation, Paul's efforts have been instrumental in developing a world-class reporting and compliance structure for Buchanan Technologies. Paul has assembled a team of professionals that provide our company a great foundation to build upon. His continual search for process improvements will create additional value and deliver even greater competitive advantages for Buchanan.

Edward Parker

Vice President, Technical and Strategic Planning

Edward started his IT education by obtaining his degree from the University of South Florida. His career with Buchanan Technologies started in 1996. Since, Edward has earned the respect and credibility of his colleagues and our customers through hard work and dedication and the ability to communicate his ideas and business solutions. Edward has continued to advance in his technical role by earning several certifications such as MCSE, CISSP, PMP, CCNA and CCA. Managing Buchanan's largest account, Edward and his team have been delivering services to one of the tenth largest retailers in the world and have developed an outstanding client relationship. Edward has focused his work on consulting and coaching by effectively assessing and managing team dynamics and culture along with making sure that he is in alignment with our corporate business strategy, organizational culture and leadership. Edward has been very successful at Buchanan by sharing an approach to team leadership that focuses on collaboration and accountability to attain higher levels of personal, team and organizational performance. Edward has inspired many with his innovation, integrity and fortitude and has a strong desire to push others to achieve their goals. He understands the importance of taking care of our customers and employees by doing the right thing, at the right time and for the right reason. He continues to stay on the cutting edge of technology and strategic planning to provide information technology business solutions to our customers.

In his spare time, Edward enjoys riding his Harley around the country, backpacking and camping in the wilderness, training his hunting dog, and spending quality time with his family and friends. Edward currently resides on a few acres in Mansfield, Texas, with his wife Heather and three sons.

Rob Trout

Vice President, Solutions and Deliveries

Rob Trout has been a valuable and dedicated leader of our Buchanan Technologies' family for eight years. Through the years he has advanced through the company as a subject matter expert in networking technologies. His success at Buchanan has been achieved by setting goals and achieving those goals with integrity, self-confidence and hard work. Rob has been involved in all aspects of Buchanan's business efforts, from developing new client relationships to providing process improvement, strategic planning, team building and action planning with prospects, customers and employees.

Rob and his team are currently working on a project constructing a state-of-the-art stadium, involved in delivering services in the networking infrastructure area ranging from Windows Server 2008 clustering to the Cisco-centric infrastructure. His ability to process issues and communicate his ideas and solution options through performance, boldness and team-building is a strength that has helped develop long-term relationships and generated revenue for our organization. He believes in servant leadership and holds people accountable. As a leader, he understands our corporate core values and focuses on collaborating, inspiring and serving others to achieve success.

In his personal time, Rob enjoys hunting, fishing, wake boarding, mountain biking, and training his hunting dog. Rob currently lives in McKinney, Texas, with his wife Nora, and their two children Ashleigh and Ryan.

Bogi Gudbrandsson

Vice President, Information Technology

As Vice President, Information Technology, Bogi is responsible for Buchanan’s internal information systems and many aspects of the managed services provided to our customers.

Prior to joining Buchanan, Bogi held progressive positions in IT and Telecommunications. Bogi is a process and standards driven individual who continuously strives to increase the business benefits from the implementation of information systems and ensure that every investments has an adequate return.

Bogi earned his Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering from the University of Iceland and his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in Indiana. He resides in Ohio with his wife, Jennifer Ridenour, and two sons.

Roger Edwards

Vice President of Automotive and Field Service Delivery

Roger Edwards is the Vice President of Automotive and Field Service Delivery. Roger contributes 13 years of Automotive Industry IT experience, and a combined 26 years of service delivery & management experience. Roger leads the Buchanan field service delivery teams and project implementations, and he serves as the primary account manager for the automotive dealer relationships. Roger previously served two terms as president of the Cape Fear Sales & Marketing Executives Association (SMEI).

Steve Piotraczk

Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Steve has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience in the software and service industries. He is responsible for leading and executing strategy to take Buchanan to new heights in their client aquisition, revenue results, and customer service delivery. Steve earned a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Ferris State University. Prior to joining Buchanan, Steve led sales growth at JM Family Enterprise, Ariba, Freemarkets and Reynolds and Reynolds. He started his business career at General Motors in manufacturing.

B.J Mattingly

Vice President of SMB and Educational Services

Before joining Buchanan Technologies, B.J. Mattingly worked as the Director of Enterprise Services for Reynolds and Reynolds, where he was a member of the President’s Sales Club. While at Reynolds and Reynolds, he developed and implemented a cohesive support team for their top 10 customers that enabled the company to provide exceptional service and grow revenues. Mattingly attended Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He is currently heading up the higher education services division which provides e-learning help desk services to colleges and universities across the United States.
