ARIES - Asset Management System

ARIES, or Asset Management System, is an asset tracking application offered by Buchanan Technologies that allows companies to easily track and maintain information for all of your company's assets. ARIES is ideal for receiving new items or updating existing asset information.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The ARIES system uses a handheld wireless scanner to collect data on newly acquired assets or verify existing asset data and offers a seamless update to the company database so that all users are informed as scanning occurs. Simply scan an asset barcode tag associated to an item and maintain any or all of the 75 plus data fields. Users may designate anything from asset type, asset status, location, and description, to warranty, maintenance logs, insurance policies, and lease expiration information.

ARIES reduces time by tracking and maintaining the location, custodian, manufacturer, and model number and allows users to monitor insurance or depreciation types and cycles.
ARIES allows improved accuracy for audits by providing immediate access to asset lifecycle and ownership.
Asset use is optimized with ease by maintaining the asset data either through the handheld device, wireless notepads, or PC workstations with a direct link to a fully functional website that includes comprehensive and flexible reporting.

GETTING STARTED

Full asset functionality is available on the website if users desire to update any asset information with a flexible role based security feature to monitor asset data access. Users may choose to use the history records that detail all changes during an asset's lifecycle, or view purchase order numbers and costs, or query depreciation types and schedule. An attachment feature is available so that companies may include a picture of an asset, a user manual or guide for the asset, original purchase order, or any other documents that should remain with the asset. ARIES minimizes the paperwork required to stay informed on the status, use, and chain of custody for asset usage. The barcode or scan tag feature allows for faster and more accurate tracking of asset use and may be used at any time for newly acquired or existing assets. Audit worries are over with immediate accessibility to current asset details. Using the handheld scanner allows tracking of assets wherever they are found.

Getting started is easy once the initial location and custodian information is established. Affix a scan tag to the desired asset and scan, the handheld scanner prompts for an asset description and defaults this item to a new Active Status asset if the scan tag number is unique. If the scan tag number already exists in the system, then the related asset information displays on the handheld scanner. A unique asset number and asset description are the only required data fields to enter a new asset.

At this point, users may now enter or modify asset information. The description, location, Building, Room number, Serial #, Model #, Manufacturer Name, Status, Department, Custodian, Asset type, PO number, Costs, Acquisition date, Scrap value, lease dates, user defined fields and Notes are just a few of the data types retained for each asset. Companies may choose to use some or all of these data items.

Update asset records as you choose and then use the comprehensive and flexible reporting to view groups of data that you need to see. At this time users may also export or print the reports as needed.

ARIES is a powerful system built upon a Microsoft SQL database and Microsoft Windows Mobile platform using a .NET framework both on the mobile device and web application. All licenses and pre-programmed scanners are included as part of the package.
